Xingyi Give Wanfenglin and Maling Gorge a day each; stay for the villages and food.
Xingyi brings two very different karst experiences into one stay. At Wanfenglin, pointed limestone hills rise around cultivated fields and Bouyei villages; at Maling River Gorge, you descend into a narrow landscape of water, rock and hanging mineral forms. Village lunches, a bowl of mutton rice noodles and a quiet courtyard visit give the scenery a human scale.
Stay three nights for two complete days: one for Wanfenglin and its villages, one for Maling River Gorge and a relaxed city afternoon. The default scenic base is the road-accessible part of the Nahui village area around Xianahui / 下纳灰, with meals nearby and a confirmed gorge return. Choose a central Xingyi hotel instead if easier everyday transport and more dining choices matter more than waking beside the fields.
This suits travellers who want rural scenery at a usable pace and can manage the gorge’s steps. With limited walking, retain Wanfenglin’s admitted vehicle-and-village visit and replace the gorge with city time and Liushi Manor when open. Wanfeng Lake is a different road excursion: add a day or substitute it, rather than promising the peak forest, gorge and lake in one day.

Wanfenglin, 1, forms one complete day and can also be your base. Maling River Gorge, 2, needs a separate road outing. Liushi Manor, 3, belongs to the city-side cultural choice. Wanfeng Lake, 4, is a dedicated excursion or substitution. The diagram explains these choices; it is not a scale map or a walking route between them.
Default: one Wanfenglin day with lunch and village time; one gorge morning, city lunch and either the manor when open or a restful afternoon. Put the clearer suitable weather window on Wanfenglin and follow actual gorge controls. If both days have unsafe conditions, use the city’s food and available cultural visits, or change the stay; this is not an all-weather guarantee of the two scenic visits.
Only one complete day: choose Wanfenglin and leave the gorge and lake out. Three complete days: add a fourth night and a confirmed lake outing, or simply enjoy a second slower rural day. Guiyang and Anshun are onward destinations to book separately, not local stops after the gorge.
Four choices, with the main two given proper time
1. Wanfenglin · 万峰林
Wanfenglin rewards the change of scale between a high view and time on the valley floor. From the viewing road, limestone cones form repeated dark shapes behind a patchwork of fields; the farming pattern and villages explain why the scene is more than a collection of dramatic peaks. Bagua Field / 八卦田 is one of the cultivated patterns to look for, rather than a separate theme park to rush toward.
Use the operator’s confirmed sightseeing-vehicle circuit for the high views, then eat and walk modestly in the lower village area. The default does not depend on renting a scooter, trespassing on farm tracks or reaching a particular café roof. Bouyei settlements are lived-in places: remain on public or signed visitor routes, keep out of crops and ask before entering a courtyard.
The hero photograph shows Shangnahui / 上纳灰, another village in the Wanfenglin landscape. It illustrates the field-and-peak setting; it is not labelled as the default Xianahui hotel location. Crops, flowers and cloud conditions change. Rapeseed blossom in a seasonal photograph is not a promise that an autumn visit will be yellow.
Do not confuse the vehicle-led viewing road / 观峰道 with the Lingfeng walking trail / 凌峰步道. The latter has its own earlier cutoff, climbing restrictions and no elevator or barrier-free facilities. It is an optional hike for suitable visitors, not the short plan’s necessary connection.
Hours
The operator lists 08:00–18:00 March–October and 08:30–17:30 November–February. Last entry and any reserved slot on your own product take precedence. The Lingfeng walking trail has an earlier separate cutoff.
Tickets
The published ordinary-adult admission is ¥70 March–November and ¥60 December–February; the viewing-road sightseeing vehicle is a separate ¥50 per person. Concessions and optional experiences have their own terms.
Time
A full day lets you separate a high viewpoint visit from lunch and an unhurried lower-village walk. Do not add the gorge and lake to the same day.

Getting there
Use the named scenic visitor centre for the ticketed viewing-road outing. A hotel in 下纳灰村 needs its own pickup point and a return; a valley road does not automatically allow a visitor’s vehicle onto the scenic viewing road.
How to visit
Visitor centre → the confirmed viewing-road sightseeing vehicle and permitted lookout stops → its stated endpoint/return → lunch → a modest signed lower-village/field-edge walk → the same accommodation. Ask staff for the actual vehicle circuit before boarding.
2. Maling River Gorge · 马岭河峡谷
The gorge changes the direction of the visit: instead of looking across peaks, you look along cliffs and upward through spray. Waterfalls, vegetation and mineral-coated rock become the close details. Water volume varies; the interest remains the relationship between the stream, walls and hanging deposits, rather than a guaranteed number of roaring falls.
The admitted paths involve descent, steps, wet surfaces and a way back up. Use the operator’s open-route advice at the gate and confirm any elevator you depend on before entering. A ticketed elevator reduces one part of the climb; it does not make every bridge, approach or gorge path step-free. Carry a rain layer and protect electronics from spray without stepping off the path for a photograph.
After heavy rain or a warning, more dramatic water is not a reason to ignore a closure. Staff directions take priority over an old route diagram. The default is sightseeing on admitted paths; rafting is a separate activity with its own access, operating decision and product, and is not quietly included in this half-day.
Hours
The current operator homepage lists 08:00–17:30. Check the live notice and actual booked entry before leaving; holiday extensions and gate/slot arrangements are temporary conditions.
Tickets
Use the operator’s current ticket mini program or visitor service for the dated admission and elevator option. The provincial 2023 schedule is a historical reference, not proof of today’s checkout price.
Time
Allow a comfortable half-day including stairs, pauses, water spray and the return ascent or elevator queue. No barrier-free full-gorge circuit is promised.

Getting there
Default to 小青山 only when the actual order and staff permit it. If an order specifies 打柴窝, change the driver’s destination and agree the correct exit pickup instead of arriving at another gate.
How to visit
Ask staff for the open route from the admitted gate. The operator’s general example uses Xiaoqingshan, Haishi Bridge, waterfall viewing and an elevator return; confirm that day’s complete way out before descending. Stop at closures and never enter the river.
3. Liushi Manor · 刘氏庄园
Liushi Manor is the cultural counterpoint to the two landscapes. Its linked courtyard buildings mix different architectural influences, while stone and timber carving invite close looking. The Liu family’s role in local and Guizhou political history gives the buildings a story beyond their decorative surfaces.
Choose it for a modest afternoon when its visitor areas are open, particularly when you want an indoor-and-courtyard alternative to another strenuous walk. A guide or available interpretation can add context, but no English guided departure or fixed exhibition list is promised. Some courtyard movement remains outdoors, so severe weather is a reason to rest in town rather than assume every part is sheltered.
Hours
Ask the site or operator visitor service for that day’s visitor hours and open courtyards. The heritage description is not a dated operating notice.
Tickets
Confirm the manor’s own admission, reservation and any guide fee. The budget keeps a separate optional allowance rather than inventing free entry.
Time
About 1–2 hours is an editorial allowance for available courtyards and details, not every exhibition or a guaranteed guided tour.

Getting there
Use 兴义刘氏庄园 as the exact destination; it is not the better-known manor of the same family name in Sichuan. Agree the return with the city driver or hotel.
How to visit
Staffed visitor entrance → open courtyard sequence and permitted rooms → stone/wood details and available history interpretation → the same booked road pickup. If closed, use a city meal and rest instead of searching for a back entrance.
4. Wanfeng Lake · 万峰湖
Wanfeng Lake places limestone hills around open water rather than farmland. It is a reservoir landscape, and a boat can offer a different perspective when a legitimate service is operating. That is its reason to choose; it does not need an inflated claim that one cruise includes every lake arm or every privately operated shore attraction.
Use a specific operator-confirmed scenic dock, boat product and road return. The name covers a wide area, and an accommodation’s lake-view address is not necessarily the dock on a boat order. If the lake is central to your trip, add the extra day and confirm the service before paying for a non-refundable driver. If it is only a spare idea, retain more Wanfenglin or city time when sailings are uncertain.
Hours
Choose a daylight outing only after the operator confirms a sailing and return time. Bad weather can alter or stop boating independently of road access.
Tickets
Ask the group visitor service to identify the current Wanfeng Lake scenic dock and dated boat product. Do not assume a Wanfenglin ticket buys lake access, a boat seat or entry to a separately operated lakeside attraction.
Time
Keep a dedicated day or replace Maling Gorge. The road approach, admission and waiting belong inside the day, not outside the itinerary.

Getting there
Use the exact dock on the confirmed product and a licensed out-and-back car. “Wanfeng Lake” is too broad to be a complete driver instruction.
How to visit
Confirmed dock/visitor centre → the actual admitted shore or boat visit → return to the same dock → waiting car → the same Xingyi base. If no permitted sailing or return can be secured, keep the day at Wanfenglin or in town.
A Nahui village base or a central Xingyi hotel
Xianahui / 下纳灰 and the Nahui valley: choose a property with actual road access, nearby meals and a clear pickup for the scenic visitor centre. The attraction is repeated time around the fields and village, rather than a rushed return from town after every meal. Ask how you reach the door with bags, whether steps are unavoidable, and whether arrival/departure and gorge transfers are available and priced separately.
Central Xingyi / Jushan area: choose it for a wider dining choice and easier everyday taxi access. You will make a deliberate return outing to Wanfenglin, but you can keep all three nights in one room. Airport or station-side lodging: use it when a very early departure makes location decisive; it is a transport choice, not automatically a rural scenic stay.
Open Xingyi accommodation search, enter three nights, two adults and one room, then use the map/location filter for 万峰林 / 下纳灰 or 兴义市区 / 桔山. Check that a Wanfenglin-themed hotel is actually in the chosen area. Ask the property about passport check-in, meals, the exact car pickup, cancellation terms and your dates’ room total. These are area comparisons, not tested named-hotel recommendations.
Keep one base for the short stay. A hotel change between the peak-forest day and gorge day usually creates more luggage work than benefit. If mobility limits make the rural last mile difficult, take a road-accessible city hotel and arrange a suitable admitted Wanfenglin vehicle visit; a room with a scenic photograph does not solve that last mile.
Give the scenery a local lunch and the city a breakfast
Wanfenglin egg fried rice / 万峰林蛋炒饭 fits the rural day: rice and egg cooked in a hot wok, often with local pickled chilli and small side dishes. Eat near the village route or visitor service after the viewing-road outing. Ask whether the cooking fat is lard and whether meat, seafood or pickles enter the version you choose; an egg-based name does not make every recipe vegetarian.
For a longer seated meal, consider a properly cooked sour-bamboo-shoot fish or beef dish / 酸笋鱼、酸笋牛肉 with vegetables and rice, if available on the actual menu. The sour and fermented flavours are part of the choice; ask about chilli and portion size before ordering. Two adults can begin with one main dish, one vegetable and rice rather than ordering a large banquet by name.
Xingyi mutton rice noodles / 兴义羊肉粉 make a useful city breakfast or early lunch: rice noodles with mutton and its broth, with local condiments according to the shop. Ask separately about blood, offal, herbs and chilli if those matter to you. A plain bowl near your hotel may fit the morning better than a special cross-city restaurant hunt.
After the gorge, eat and dry off before considering the manor. On the arrival evening, use a nearby ordinary restaurant or the village property’s confirmed kitchen; reserve dinner timing when a small property cooks only to order. Prices and individual restaurants were not field-tested. The meal budget is a planning input, with alcohol, elaborate banquets and food purchases as souvenirs excluded.
Three nights for two complete days
Arrival day · first night: travel to the exact Xingyi station or airport on your ticket, then take the booked road transfer to the Nahui village property or city hotel. Check the next day’s admission and pickup, settle in, and eat nearby. A late rail arrival is not counted as a full scenic day.
First complete day · second night: breakfast, travel to Wanfenglin visitor centre, and use the current admitted viewing-road vehicle plan with permitted lookout stops. Give the views time, then have a seated lunch. Spend the afternoon on a modest village-and-field-edge walk near the chosen base, with a tea or rest stop. Return to the same room for dinner; the plan does not add the gorge or lake afterward.
Second complete day · third night: take the pre-arranged car to the actual Maling Gorge gate on the admission. Confirm the open path and way out before descending; use a comfortable half-day and the selected return ascent/elevator. Have lunch in the city, then visit Liushi Manor only if open and the group has energy. Otherwise take a quiet city afternoon and dinner before returning to the same base.
Departure morning: breakfast, check out and use the reserved ride to the exact station or airport. No lake excursion is placed before a fixed departure. This is three nights with two uninterrupted full days, plus arrival and departure travel.
If the gorge is closed or its steps are unsuitable: replace that day with a city breakfast, Liushi Manor when open, a long lunch and rest. If the manor is closed too, use the meal-and-rest plan rather than treating another unconfirmed scenic ticket as a guaranteed rescue. Swap the two main days when weather and existing orders permit, using the original purchase channel for any change.
Want the lake? Add a fourth night and third complete day, with a confirmed scenic dock, boat/shore product and waiting return car. Return to the same base before the last night; depart the following morning. With three nights fixed, the lake replaces the gorge day. It does not join both core visits in a single day.
Buy the right products and resolve passport handling first
Wanfenglin: start at the operator’s ticket page and its linked/scannable 万峰林景区 WeChat mini program. Select the actual date, ordinary-adult or justified concession admission, and the 观峰道 sightseeing vehicle when using the default plan. Follow any time slot on the current order. The posted price season and posted opening-hours season have different month boundaries; one does not define the other.
Maling Gorge: use the operator’s visitor entry and 马岭河峡谷景区 mini program. Select the actual gate and time if required. 1号门小青山 and 2号门打柴窝 are different driver destinations. Ask which route is open and whether the elevator product you intend to use is operating.
For a foreign passport: carry the original document, and ask the official services how to issue/validate that document before paying for a non-refundable transfer. Wanfenglin publishes +86 859 3342299; Maling Gorge publishes +86 859 3646118. If a form accepts only a Chinese ID, stop and obtain the supported current process; never substitute a false number or assume an ID-scanning instruction proves passport support.
Keep the actual confirmation: visitor, document, date, gate, slot and product must match the trip. Limited emergency window tickets in an announcement are not a guaranteed foreign-passport walk-up allocation. If the required supported process or admission cannot be secured, keep the city/available cultural plan and seek a change or refund through the purchase channel.
Holiday notices can change slots, gates, hours and refunds; use the current Wanfenglin notices and Maling Gorge notices for the chosen date. Their past seasonal or holiday announcements do not establish that the same timetable applies every ordinary day. No passport checkout, concession qualification, live ticket stock or payment was tested for this guide.
The Wanfenglin operator posts ¥70 adult admission in March–November, ¥60 in December–February and ¥50 for the viewing-road vehicle. For Maling Gorge, the province’s 2023 official schedule lists ¥70/¥60 seasonal admission and ¥30 one-way / ¥40 return elevator references. Those gorge figures are historical published benchmarks; the dated product must establish today’s charge and direction before payment. Admission, elevator, rafting and a lake boat remain separate.
For an optional lake outing, call the operator group’s published 400-118-0859 service from its Wanfeng Lake entry. Ask for the correct current scenic dock, actual boat product and sailing, passport handling, return dock and cancellation conditions, then give those details to the licensed car provider. If the operator cannot confirm the product and full return, do not prepay an assumed cruise; keep the village or city day.
Use Xingyi South for the booked high-speed train
Search Xingyi South / 兴义南 on 12306 for the actual travel date. Current rail reporting confirms it is an operating gateway; older advice that all travellers must first reach a distant rail city is no longer a reliable default. Compare actual trains from your origin or via Guiyang, without assuming every advertised historic direct service runs on your day.
Xingyi / 兴义 without 南 is a different station. Give the driver the full booked station name, train number and hotel address; use the same precision on departure. Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport / 兴义万峰林机场 is the air gateway, whose actual airline schedule determines whether a flight is useful. No train-to-flight minimum connection or universal taxi fare is promised.
At arrival, use the signed taxi queue or a licensed hotel-arranged car. A tourist shuttle between Xingyi South and Wanfenglin has been reported, but its dated reporting is not today’s last-bus timetable. Use it only after station/official staff confirm the stop, fare, last service and whether it reaches your actual hotel area. If that fails, use the agreed licensed car rather than assuming the scenic visitor centre is walkable from the station.
For the gorge day, confirm hotel → the admitted Maling gate → the actual exit → city lunch/manor if chosen → hotel, including waiting and the return quote. The operator lists city bus/road connections, but a useful route number does not establish the last service. If a return bus cannot be confirmed, arrange the licensed return before leaving. The lake needs its own named dock and waiting vehicle. Save the hotel address, driver/official contact and original orders offline.
Use the open paths, with a real city alternative
Seasonal crops change Wanfenglin’s appearance: flowers, rice and harvested ground are different views. Ask about the chosen village’s actual stage if colour matters; do not book a flower photograph as a year-round result. For a misty day, take a safe clear interval for the views and keep village lunch and rest flexible.
Rain at the gorge: consult the operator’s current warning before leaving the hotel. Closed paths, severe weather, slippery steps and a stopped elevator can change whether the outing is suitable. Follow staff directions, remain on admitted paths and do not enter the river. The city/manor alternative is a lower-demand change, not a guarantee that a storm leaves every indoor site open.
If a site closes after purchase, keep the order and closure message and use the original seller’s applicable change/refund process; do not assume a hotel or car automatically cancels with the admission. Ask the accommodation to help revise the road plan. If admission is full, switch days only when the second day’s actual weather and orders allow. Do not buy an unverified alternative merely because its advertisement promises no queues.
Two adults, one room, three nights: calculate the whole stay
For two ordinary-fare adults sharing one room, three nights and two complete days, use 3R + 2A + 2V + 2G + 2E + T + M + X. R is the nightly room; A Wanfenglin admission; V its viewing-road vehicle; G Maling Gorge admission; E the selected per-person elevator direction/product; T all gateway and selected local road legs; M all meals from arrival dinner to departure breakfast; X water and contingency. Add Liushi Manor’s actual ticket or guide separately if selected.
Worked inputs: R = ¥320, A = ¥70, V = ¥50, G = ¥70, E = ¥30, T = ¥460, M = ¥600 and X = ¥140. The pair’s result is ¥960 + ¥140 + ¥100 + ¥140 + ¥60 + ¥460 + ¥600 + ¥140 = ¥2,600. A and V follow the operator’s posted ordinary-adult schedule; G and E use the 2023 official reference as provisional inputs and must be replaced by the actual current products. The example E assumes one ascent, not a return-elevator product. R, T, M and X are illustrative allowances, not sampled room rates or vehicle quotations.
T includes arrival/departure gateway rides, local Wanfenglin access where needed, the complete gorge return and the selected city lunch stop. Obtain a fresh total if the actual base or exit changes. For December–February Wanfenglin admission, replacing A with the posted ¥60 reduces the same illustration by ¥20 for the pair, to ¥2,580; do not infer the gorge’s seasonal price from that month boundary. Any valid concession or bundle needs its own included/excluded products before recalculating.
For the gorge-free city alternative, remove 2G + 2E, replace T with a hypothetical ¥380 city/local transport total, and add an ¥80 provisional manor/interpretation allowance. The result is ¥960 + ¥140 + ¥100 + ¥380 + ¥600 + ¥140 + ¥80 = ¥2,400. That ¥80 is not a verified manor price or free-entry claim. If the manor is closed or not selected, use the actual city plan and recalculate.
A fourth night / third full day for the lake adds an actual room, the additional lake return car, both adults’ selected boat/admission products and another day’s meals. Illustrative extra inputs of ¥320 room + ¥300 incremental lake car + 2 × ¥120 provisional boat/admission + ¥180 meals + ¥60 contingency add ¥1,100, making ¥3,700. The ¥120 is an unverified product allowance, not a published cruise fare. Keep the base and original gateway legs, and add only the new lake car; do not repeat an arrival transfer. Intercity rail/flights, guiding, rafting, rental scooters, shopping, alcohol and extra delay nights are excluded unless explicitly added.
What was checked, and what remains date-specific
Sources were read on . Wanfenglin’s operator pages support the separate admission/vehicle schedule, distinct walking-trail conditions, current contact and road geography. The gorge operator supports the current visitor entry, gate names, wet-path rules and example return route. The provincial PDF is explicitly a 2023 price reference, and older holiday notices are not treated as permanent operating rules.
The group’s manor and lake pages support the heritage/geography choices; the generic Wanfenglin footer on a surrounding-attraction page does not prove that attraction’s own hours. Current rail reporting establishes Xingyi South as a real gateway, while actual trains and the last local connection remain date-specific. Stay length, bases, meal order, time allowances and sample budgets are editorial planning choices.
No train, taxi, hotel, restaurant, gorge path, elevator, lake boat, phone enquiry or foreign-passport transaction was field-tested. No live stock or named-property recommendation is asserted. Photographs retain their exact location and capture dates. Market demand and search volume for this destination were not measured.
