Qingdao joins red-roof hills, an old brewery and a modern bay: give a first visit two full city sightseeing days and three hotel nights. Base near May Fourth Square for airport and coast access, accepting a metro ride west for the old town.

Qingdao sights by priority
Must-see for a mixed first visit
1. Zhanqiao Pier · 栈桥The harbour landmark and the old city's sea-facing view · West · Qingdao Bay
Time:
45–60 minutes ·
Tickets and access:
Free public pier and waterfront · exposed pier can close in rough seas or crowd controls
2. Badaguan · 八大关Leafy villa streets with a different shore walk · Middle coast · villa district
Time:
1½–2 hours; shorten to 45–60 minutes for one street and the shore ·
Tickets and access:
Free street-and-shore walk · villa interiors charge separately · daylight suits the buildings
3. Tsingtao Beer Museum · 青岛啤酒博物馆Old brewery machinery, brewing history and a taste of the product · North of the old town · Dengzhou Road
Free general admission · Mondays closed except statutory holidays · groups reserve three days ahead; special exhibitions may charge
9. Shilaoren Beach · 石老人海水浴场Broad sand and open sea, rather than another city promenade · Far east · Haikou Road
Time:
1–2 hours; longer for a permitted summer swim ·
Tickets and access:
Free public shore · equipment and changing facilities extra · swimming only where permitted
Nine city choices; pick combinations below. Laoshan requires a separate outing. All visit and transfer allowances are editorial estimates, excluding unusual queues.
West old townQingdao Station · #1, #4, #5, #7Hills, old streets, bay
Middle coast#2 BadaguanVilla streets and Taiping Bay
East centreMay Fourth Square · #6Default hotel and Line 8 airport link
Far east#8 Museum · #9 ShilaorenCollections, sand and open sea
The brewery (#3) sits inland north of the old town. Connect the districts by metro or car, then walk within one district. The coast curves through several bays; a seafront line on a map hides long connecting walks.
Area notes from west → east; see the maps for geographic context and the visit details for journeys.
How long, and what goes together
Choice and time
Plan and conditions
Two full sightseeing days
cover an old-town combination, the brewery and a chosen coastal district. Three nights work when you arrive the previous evening and leave after the second full day. A midday arrival or early departure reduces the usable sightseeing time.
Old town: #1 → #5 → optional #4
Allow 4–6 hours with lunch. Begin at Zhanqiao, walk through Zhongshan Road and the cathedral square, then visit the residence only with an agreed entry time. Clear sky and energetic legs make #7 a further hour; otherwise keep the street walk.
Brewery + villa coast: #3 → #2
Hold 2–3 hours for the beer museum and a further 2 hours for Badaguan. Use a car or metro between them. End with a short #6 walk near the hotel if energy remains; buying an evening show creates a separate fixed appointment.
Eastern half-day: #8 → #9
Allow 4–5 hours including travel within the district and dumplings. Visit the museum while it is open, then the beach. On a Monday museum closure, choose the sand and a meal, or keep an extra old-town interior on another date.
Lose a day
Delete the far-east journey, Laoshan and extra viewpoints. Keep #1 + #5, then choose either the brewery for industrial history or #2 for architecture and shore. #6 can remain a short evening walk from the default base.
A third city day makes the eastern half-day comfortable. Add a separate full day and usually a fourth night for Laoshan; squeezing mountain travel between two city sights sacrifices both.
Book the visits that fix your time
Start with the train or flight on your actual dates. Your rail ticket must say 青岛站 or 青岛北站; the two lead to different hotel transfers. Save the original booking document and station name.
Choose one hotel base. Book the exact named property through its operator. Save the Chinese door address, arrival time and hotel telephone for a late arrival.
Buy the beer-museum visit for the chosen date. The official account describes original-document and QR admission. KKday product 525942 supplies an English passport route. Choose the museum e-ticket, rather than the airport transport-card bundle; read the dated price and inclusions before payment, because completed orders are non-refundable and cannot be modified. Save the QR and carry the original passport and reservation confirmation to 登州路56号. If the chosen date is unavailable, use #1 + #5 + #2 and a small restaurant beer.
Add the heritage interior with its normal daytime window in mind. The residence's municipal reference gives seasonal hours and CNY13/20 adult pricing, while that day's extensions and passport process need the operator's answer. Call +86 532 82868838 or use its named WeChat account. #5 is an immediately usable street alternative.
For Laoshan, reserve the named southern route. Its operator opens date-specific real-name reservations seven days ahead. Buy admission and scenic transport for 太清 through the official account; resolve passport entry with +86 532 96616 before paying. The cableway closure changes the route below.
The public promenades and streets are flexible. A boat, night show, villa interior or equipment hire fixes a different product and its own meeting point.
Where to stay: May Fourth Square or the old town
Default: The Westin Qingdao
青岛威斯汀酒店 · 香港中路8号. The Marriott operator page gives direct booking and +86 532 80900999. Choose it for a full-service base near 五四广场 metro and the eastern bay; the tradeoff is a westward trip for old streets. Allow about 10–15 minutes between station/square and the hotel door, depending on the exit and luggage. The operator lists English service, cards and cash.
Old-town alternative: Home Inn neo
如家·neo-青岛栈桥中山路地铁站海景店 · 中山路149号. The BTG Homeinns page explicitly lists 接待外宾 and direct booking; call +86 532 89858188. It puts Zhongshan Road and Chunhelou by the door, with a short walk from Line 1. Choose it for old-town evenings and Qingdao Station access; the eastern bay and airport require longer metro legs. Book the specific room type and window rather than treating 海景 in the property name as a guarantee for every room.
Room rates are date-specific. Compare the operator's final total, cancellation deadline, breakfast and room type on the same nights. Keep the original passport and reservation name ready for registration. An east-beach hotel adds repeated city transfers; it is better for a sand-focused stay than this mixed two-day visit.
Arrive at the airport or the station on your ticket
Jiaodong International Airport · 胶东国际机场 (TAO) is the active airport. Line 8's south section opened in September 2026; the project builder's first-hand announcement records direct service between the airport and 五四广场. The quoted fastest train time is 40 minutes for that station pair, excluding arrivals, waiting and the hotel walk.
Route details, choices and return steps
TAO → Westin, May Fourth Square
After arrivals follow 地铁 signs to 胶东机场站. Board Line 8 towards 五四广场, leave at 五四广场 and walk to 香港中路8号. Allow roughly 75–110 minutes from the public arrivals area to the hotel as a planning allowance. For an arrival outside metro operation, arrange the Westin's road transfer through +86 532 80900999 or use the signed airport taxi rank with the saved Chinese hotel address.
TAO → Home Inn, Zhongshan Road
Take Line 8 towards 五四广场 as far as 青岛北站; transfer to Line 1 towards 王家港 and leave at 中山路. Walk to 中山路149号. Allow about 90–120 minutes from public arrivals. The hotel at +86 532 89858188 can help describe its door to the airport driver if a late arrival needs a road transfer.
Qingdao Station · 青岛站
This is the station by the western bay. For Westin, follow 地铁 signs and take Line 3 towards 青岛北站 to 五四广场, then walk to 香港中路8号; allow 35–50 minutes from the railway public exit. For Home Inn, use Line 1 towards 东郭庄 to 中山路 and walk to 中山路149号; allow 20–35 minutes, or take a short car ride with luggage.
Qingdao North · 青岛北站
For Westin take Line 8 towards 五四广场 to the terminus, then walk to 香港中路8号; allow 40–60 minutes from the railway public exit. For Home Inn take Line 1 towards 王家港 to 中山路, then walk to 中山路149号; allow 45–65 minutes. Keep 青岛北 in the destination when arranging pickup.
These are planning estimates for normal service, rather than timetables. The transport authority's September 22 opening notice and the city's September 23 report also confirm direct Line 8 service; it supersedes older eastern-hotel instructions requiring a transfer at Qingdao North. Obtain the actual departure board for your travel date from Qingdao Metro or the station; 40 minutes refers to selected fast trains, while all-stop service takes longer.
Move between neighbourhoods and return to your hotel
Metro for district changes
Use the metro for district changes; walk after you arrive. Line 3 links 青岛站, the central coast and 五四广场. Line 1 serves 中山路, 台东 and 青岛北站. Line 2 links 五四广场, 台东 and 石老人浴场. Line 4 reaches 大河东 for Laoshan. Save both the Chinese station and your final entrance address, because a district name alone can place you far from the gate.
Buy and retain a single-journey ticket
For a simple ride buy a single-journey ticket for the exact destination at the station machine or ask the staffed service desk, paying the displayed fare in RMB. Keep the ticket until the exit gate. Digital QR products are optional; a cash station ticket avoids depending on an unfamiliar wallet setup. A card accepted by a hotel is a separate payment claim from a metro gate.
Return to Westin or the old-town Home Inn
From the old town return to Westin on Line 3 青岛站 → 五四广场, or use Line 4 信号山 → 人民会堂 then Line 3. From Badaguan use Line 3 太平角公园 → 五四广场. From Shilaoren use Line 2 石老人浴场 → 五四广场. To the old-town Home Inn instead, use Line 1 中山路 as the final station, transferring at 台东 when arriving on Line 2.
Hills, steps and limited stamina
Qingdao's hill streets involve steps and sloping paving. Split #1 + #5 from uphill #4 + #7 when stamina is limited, and take a licensed car to a named gate. Use car pickup on an accessible street, clear of the pier approach and promenade barriers.
Leave through the gateway you booked
TAO airport departure
For TAO reverse the hotel route: Westin → 五四广场 → Line 8 胶东机场; Home Inn → 中山路 → Line 1 青岛北站 → Line 8 胶东机场. Allow around two hours for the door-to-terminal leg, then add the airline's required airport arrival time. An early flight should use a prearranged road pickup if the first available train misses that target.
Qingdao or Qingdao North train departure
For a train, Westin → Line 3 青岛站 or Line 8 青岛北站; Home Inn → Line 1 青岛站 or 青岛北站. As planning buffers, leave the hotel about 90 minutes before a train at 青岛站 and two hours before one at 青岛北站, increasing them for queues and reduced mobility. The date-specific ticket and 12306 supply the departure, boarding station and passenger-document details.
Sights in detail
The numbers match the priority list. Each visit gives a real Chinese arrival point and a way to leave; choose the relevant district rather than attempting all nine in a day.
West · Qingdao Bay
1. Zhanqiao Pier · 栈桥
Choose this for Qingdao's recognisable pier, the Huilan pavilion and the red-roof shoreline behind you. It gives the old town a sea-facing beginning.
Hours
The operator lists all-day access; daylight gives the clearest shoreline view. Waves and crowd controls can close the exposed pier. Operator listing.
Tickets
The public pier and waterfront walk are free; no ticketed museum is included. Use the public approach from Taiping Road; refuse boat sellers offering a shortcut onto the pier.
Time
45–60 minutes
Address
栈桥景区公共入口 · 青岛市市南区太平路12号
Getting there
From May Fourth Square, Line 3 to 青岛站 (Qingdao Railway Station), then follow the city-side signs towards 太平路 and 栈桥. From the old-town hotel, walk down 中山路 to the waterfront.
How to visit
Start at the landward railings, walk to 回澜阁 when the pier is open, then return along the same pier. Look back towards the red-roof waterfront rather than spending the whole visit facing open water. Exit to 太平路 and turn into 中山路 for #5. On a rough-sea day, view the pier from the inland promenade and continue into the streets.
Middle coast · villa district
2. Badaguan · 八大关
Choose this for quiet tree-lined streets, changing rooflines and the meeting of residential architecture and Taiping Bay. It rewards a slow walk more than a long checklist of villa interiors.
Hours
Public streets are accessible all day; choose daylight for the buildings and shore. The scenic-area operator lists all-day opening.
Tickets
The street-and-shore route is free and uses public space. Huashilou and other villa interiors are separately operated paid visits; this route stays outside them.
Time
1½–2 hours; shorten to 45–60 minutes for one street and the shore
Address
八大关景区步行起点 · 青岛市市南区武胜关支路10号附近公共道路
Getting there
Line 3 to 太平角公园 (Taipingjiao Park), then walk into the Badaguan streets towards 武胜关支路. For limited stamina, take a licensed car directly to the Chinese start point.
How to visit
From 武胜关支路, explore the shaded streets around 韶关路 and 正阳关路, then head south along 山海关路 towards 花石楼 and the public shore beside 第二海水浴场. Compare the villas from the road; keep entrances clear. Leave towards 太平角公园 station for Line 3 to 五四广场 and #6. A continuous walk all the way to the eastern bay spends much of your visit on a connecting leg.
North of the old town · Dengzhou Road
3. Tsingtao Beer Museum · 青岛啤酒博物馆
Choose this for an indoor explanation of the city's brewery identity. Original industrial equipment and the view towards modern production offer more than another waterfront photograph.
Hours
Jan–Apr and Nov–Dec 08:30–17:30, last entry 16:30; May–Jun and Sep–Oct 08:00–18:30, last entry 17:30; Jul–Aug 07:30–19:30, last entry 18:30. Use your reserved slot. Current museum visitor notice.
Tickets
Basic adult admission is CNY 60: Halls A and B, a 150 ml original beer, a 150 ml pure draft beer and one pack of beer beans. Guided, night and other experience packages are separate products. The official WeChat account 青岛啤酒博物馆 uses 购票指南 → 预约购票. An English alternative is KKday's Tsingtao Beer Museum e-ticket: bring your original passport, booking confirmation and onsite QR. Completed orders cannot be changed or refunded. Select museum admission for your date, read the final total and save the confirmation before leaving for 登州路56号.
Time
2–3 hours, including entry and any tasting
Address
青岛啤酒博物馆检票入口 · 青岛市市北区登州路56号
Getting there
From May Fourth Square take Line 2 to 台东 (Taidong), exit A; the museum's directions lead west along 台东一路, then south along 威海路–登州路 to the entrance. From the old-town base use Line 1 to 台东.
How to visit
Enter at 登州路56号, follow the museum's signed route through the brewery history and old motor, mash and boiling equipment, then the modern-production viewing section. Finish with the tasting area included in your product and leave onto 登州路. Production visibility depends on the factory's working schedule. Reserve extra VR, personalised bottles or an evening performance only when that specific product is wanted. Pair this visit with an old-town street walk; a meal on Beer Street is a separate purchase.
West hills · Longshan Road
4. Former German Governor's Residence Museum · 德国总督楼旧址博物馆
Choose this if historic interiors matter to you: the residence's reception rooms, dining spaces and furnishings show how the building was used. The uphill approach and a paid interior make it a deliberate addition.
Hours
The municipal May 2024 listing gives normal Apr–Oct 09:00–17:00 and Nov–Mar 09:00–16:30, closed Mondays except statutory holidays. Its extended evening opening applied only to 2024. For today's last admission or a holiday extension, use 青岛德国总督楼旧址博物馆 WeChat or +86 532 82868838; hold a morning visit and use #5 on a closure.
Tickets
Paid museum admission; the same dated municipal listing gives a normal adult reference of CNY20 Apr–Oct and CNY13 Nov–Mar. Obtain the dated current total and passport handling from the museum's named WeChat account or ticket desk. The ticket-system supplier's June 2025 account describes QR admission, without proving a foreign-passport transaction.
Time
1–1½ hours, plus the uphill approach
Address
青岛德国总督楼旧址博物馆游客入口 · 青岛市市南区龙山路26号
Getting there
Line 4 to 信号山(青医附院) (Signal Hill), then walk uphill to 龙山路26号. A car to the named museum entrance saves the approach, while the building itself still requires walking.
How to visit
Enter through the Longshan Road visitor gate, follow the currently open reception, dining and bedroom sequence and inspect the joinery and furnishings as a complete interior. Return to the same gate and descend towards the old-town streets. Combine with #5 and #1; add #7 only with clear skies and enough energy. This is the residence at 龙山路26号; the former government office on 沂水路 is a different building.
West · old town
5. Zhongshan Road historic area · 中山路历史街区
Choose this for the old city's street texture and a useful lunch stop. Zhongshan Road links the seafront landmark with restaurant fronts and uphill lanes, so the walk has a purpose beyond photographing buildings.
Hours
Public streets can be walked throughout the day; late morning to early evening combines the buildings with open food businesses. Individual shops and interiors keep their own hours.
Tickets
The public street route is free and needs no attraction booking. Cathedral entry, exhibitions and paid courtyards are separate products; this walk uses the exterior square and open streets.
Time
1½–2 hours, plus lunch
Address
中山路历史街区步行起点 · 青岛市市南区中山路149号(中山路与天津路一带)
Getting there
Line 1 to 中山路 (Zhongshan Road); the Home Inn base is immediately by the street. From Zhanqiao enter 中山路 from 太平路 and walk north.
How to visit
From 中山路149号, look along the shopfronts and 天津路 junction, take a meal at 春和楼 across the Zhongshan Road area, then walk south and uphill to 浙江路天主教堂广场 for the twin-tower exterior. Return towards 中山路 and descend to 太平路 and #1, or continue inland towards 龙山路 for #4. Open courtyard lanes add interest; follow public access signs rather than passing through residential gates.
East centre · Fushan Bay
6. May Fourth Square & the Olympic waterfront · 五四广场与奥帆海岸
Choose this for the contrast with the old town: broad public space, a modern skyline and a bay lined with boats. It also makes a short evening walk from the default hotel.
Hours
The operator lists 五四广场 as accessible all day. Daylight shows the sculpture and bay; an evening walk gives lit buildings without needing a light-show booking. Operator page.
Tickets
The square and public bay promenade are free. Harbour enclosures, boats, performances and sailing lessons may have their own ticket and weather terms.
Time
1–1½ hours; 30–45 minutes for the square only
Address
五四广场公共入口 · 青岛市市南区东海西路24号
Getting there
Line 2, 3 or 8 to 五四广场 (May Fourth Square), then follow the square signs south towards 东海西路. From the Westin at 香港中路8号, walk south to the bay.
How to visit
Begin at the red 五月的风 sculpture, walk east along the public Fushan Bay frontage towards the Olympic sailing harbour, then return west to 五四广场 and the hotel. Take in the moored boats from public viewpoints; a paid boat trip is optional. If barriers divert the waterfront, use the parallel signed street route and turn back at a comfortable point. Combine with #2 by metro rather than extending the whole coastal walk.
West coast · above the old streets
7. Xiaoyushan · 小鱼山
Choose this on a clear day when you want to understand the relationship between the roofscape and the water. Fog and fatigue remove much of its value.
Hours
Apr–Oct 06:00–20:00; Nov–Mar 06:00–19:00, as listed by the park operator. Wet or icy paths can trigger temporary closure.
Tickets
The city made the park free from September 2021. The current operator page lists opening hours without a separate pavilion tariff; this is a park-and-view visit rather than a sold tower product. Follow the gate's access controls. If a viewing area is restricted, keep the Huiquan Bay view from the coast instead.
Time
45–60 minutes; includes steps
Address
小鱼山景区入口 · 青岛市市南区福山支路24号
Getting there
Line 3 to 汇泉广场 (Huiquan Square), then use 福山支路24号 as the walking destination. A car to the gate removes the approach, but the pavilion still involves steps.
How to visit
Enter at 福山支路24号, climb the signed hill path to 览潮阁 and its viewing platforms, then stop at 碧波亭 for the bay-facing view. Descend to the same street gate; continue down to the Huiquan Bay shore or return to #5. The pavilion's spiral stair is the extra effort: take the lower outlook or omit this stop when knees, heat or visibility make the climb unattractive.
Far east · museum district
8. Qingdao Municipal Museum · 青岛市博物馆
Choose this for context beyond the colonial streets and brewery: the permanent Qingdao history display and ceramics show a wider regional story. It is a useful indoor partner for Shilaoren.
Hours
May–Oct 09:00–17:00, last entry 16:30; Nov–Apr 09:00–16:30, last entry 16:00. Closed Mondays except statutory holidays. Museum visitor notice.
Tickets
General admission is free; groups reserve three days ahead through the museum. Use the museum's 青岛市博物馆 account and 微青博 service for any date-specific entry information; telephone +86 532 88896286 can answer passport-registration questions. Paid guiding or a special exhibition is separate; the museum warns against unauthorised paid ticket or reservation sellers.
Time
1½–2 hours
Address
青岛市博物馆观众入口 · 青岛市崂山区梅岭东路51号
Getting there
From May Fourth Square use Line 2 to 苗岭路, transfer to Line 11 and leave at 会展中心 (Convention Centre), then walk to 梅岭东路51号. A car is convenient between the museum and #9.
How to visit
Enter the visitor gate, start with 青岛史话 for ancient regional history and the city's later development, then choose the ceramics display 窑火丹青 or the woodblock New Year prints. Follow the exit signs back to 梅岭东路. Spend time in two collections rather than rushing every gallery; the current permanent-exhibition list shows the choices. Pair with #9 and fish dumplings on the east side.
Far east · Haikou Road
9. Shilaoren Beach · 石老人海水浴场
Choose this for sand underfoot, room to sit and an open-sea horizon. It costs an eastward journey, so it belongs with the museum or a beach-focused afternoon.
Hours
Plan a daylight shore visit and follow temporary beach barriers. Access to the sand and permission to swim are separate; this guide has no verified 2026 lifeguard timetable.
Tickets
Public shore access is free; boat, equipment and changing-room services are separate. Pay for any optional hire only after seeing its displayed terms and price.
Time
1–2 hours; longer for a permitted summer swim
Address
石老人海水浴场城市会客厅入口 · 青岛市崂山区海口路287号
Getting there
Line 2 to 石老人浴场 (Shilaoren Beach), then walk south towards 海口路 and the public beach. The scenic authority's shore listing supplies the Chinese destination. Return on Line 2 to 五四广场 for the Westin.
How to visit
Enter from the Haikou Road city-lounge frontage, walk along the marked promenade, then choose an accessible sandy section for a short sit or paddle only where permitted. Return to the same Haikou Road approach. Keep an easy dry route back instead of crossing rocks at either end. Pair with #8 and the nearby 金狮广场 food stop; omit this journey if you have only one city day.
Laoshan is a separate outing
Choose the southern Taiqing route for a coast-and-temple outing, reserving a full day. This adds granite coastal scenery and a Taoist precinct, rather than another city promenade. A summit hike is a different effort.
Operating window and booking
In autumn the operator's 2026 notice lists 07:00–17:30 operation and seven-day-ahead real-name booking through 崂山风景区 or 青岛崂山风景名胜区 WeChat.
Closed upper route
The Taiqing cableway suspension began in April 2026; the August announcement closes the upper cableway-related paths from September 5 until further notice. Stay on the lower signed route; the usual cableway–upper-temple loop is unavailable under those notices.
Return target and whole day
Aim to be back at the visitor centre around 16:00 on an autumn outing, an editorial buffer before the published 17:30 close. Allow about 8–10 hours door to door, with food, water and a spare layer.
From the Westin walk to 五四广场, take Line 3 to 人民会堂, transfer to Line 4 and leave at 大河东 exit A. From Home Inn use Line 1 中山路 → 海泊桥(海慈医疗), transfer to Line 4 → 大河东. The operator identifies exit A as the approach to 大河东客服中心.
At 大河东客服中心 show the original booking document and use the scenic vehicle for 太清. Before boarding, ask staff which return stop and final vehicle apply to that day's lower route. Pay the exact admission-and-transport product total shown by the official account; a temple interior, cableway or guided add-on may have a separate charge.
Follow the open lower route around 太清湾 and the 太清宫 precinct.
Return by scenic vehicle to 大河东客服中心, then Line 4 and the reverse hotel connection.
For a passport reservation issue, use the scenic operator's +86 532 96616 before buying. If it cannot provide the ticket route, or wind and rain close the selected area, keep the city museum + meal and a short permitted shore walk. Avoid putting a flight or reserved train after this outing: scenic buses and the long city return can absorb the buffer.
Eat local flavours, with a workable order
Old town: crisp spiced chicken at Chunhelou
春和楼总店 / Chunhelou main shop
春和楼总店 · 中山路146号 fits #5 and the western Home Inn. The Ministry of Commerce's old-brand record identifies the main shop and its signature 香酥鸡: marinated, steamed and fried chicken with a crisp skin, tender flesh and warm aromatic spices. This is a savoury shared meat dish. For two people, start with one chicken, one vegetable and a small rice or dumpling order; ask whether a half chicken is available before ordering a whole bird for one person.
Show 香酥鸡 and ask 这份够两个人吃吗? (Is this portion enough for two?) and 一共多少钱? (What is the total?). Three-freshness dumplings, 三鲜蒸饺, suit a second shared dish if offered; ask which seafood and meat are in that day's filling. The tradeoff is a heavier fried lunch, so make the hill climb first or choose dumplings alone. Use the displayed portion price before the order.
Far east: fish dumplings near Shilaoren
船歌鱼水饺金狮广场店 / Chuange at Golden Lion Plaza
船歌鱼水饺金狮广场店 · 香港东路195号乙,金狮广场3层L3-56, +86 532 55716011, is listed by the Laoshan scenic authority. Use it with #8 + #9. Choose 鲅鱼水饺 for a fish filling in a thin wrapper, or 黄花鱼水饺 and 墨鱼水饺 for another seafood version. The authority describes large, fresh-tasting seafood fillings; these are a meal rather than a light snack.
For two, start with one plate of dumplings and one vegetable, then add food after seeing the portion. Ask 一份几个? (How many in one serving?) because the quoted price can refer to a plate or a larger platter. Seafood and meat can share a filling; a black cuttlefish wrapper is also a seafood choice. People avoiding seafood should request a clearly identified vegetable filling and ask about stock. Telephone the branch if making a long detour solely for it.
Beer and seafood without an accidental large bill
Beer and a shared seafood dish
At a restaurant start with a small serving of 青岛啤酒 and ask whether the menu price is per glass, bottle or pitcher. A museum tasting gives context; a separate restaurant drink gives time to sit. For shellfish or a whole fish, agree the unit and final weight-based total before cooking. 辣炒蛤蜊 is a chilli-savoury clam dish; ask 少辣 for less heat. A whole fish, crab platter and several beers increase both quantity and spend quickly, so choose one seafood dish to share before adding more.
Choose a beach and shorten the walk when conditions change
Choose Shilaoren for a beach afternoon; choose the Badaguan shore for architecture plus water. #1 and #6 give waterfront views with simpler city combinations. At Shilaoren use the marked public entrance and promenade; at Badaguan stop beside the second bathing beach after the villa walk. The swimming area, opening season and lifeguard service are separate from public shore access. Enter the water only when that day's posted swim zone and staff permit it.
Wind, high waves or heavy rain:
leave the pier and rock margins, shorten #6 to the inland side of the square, and use the beer museum or #8 while open. The scenic operator's August 2026 rules prohibit staying on dangerous sand or rocks during high tides, large waves and severe weather, and swimming outside designated areas. Crossings and barriers can change during the visit.
Fog:
delete #7 and a long scenic shore transfer; choose old-town doors and streets or a museum interior. Heat: walk Badaguan's shaded streets in the morning, take an indoor lunch break and keep the exposed bay short later. Low stamina: take a car to the museum or villa start, keep one coastal district, and delete the hill pavilion. Wet paving makes the hills a poor place to spend the remaining energy.
Spring and autumn suit a city walk with layers; summer adds heat, beach crowds and sudden weather changes. Winter makes a shorter indoor-and-street visit more comfortable than a long exposed shore circuit. Pick the actual weather window rather than promising a sunset, a light show or an offshore boat departure.
Sources and onward travel
The basic beer-museum ticket and municipal museum admission were re-read on 2 October 2026. The residence price remains the explicitly dated May 2024 municipal reference.
Primary pages were read on October 1, 2026. The beer museum's detailed visitor notice takes precedence over its generic homepage hours. The September 2026 Line 8 opening changes the airport route. The residence's normal timetable and price are a dated municipal reference; current extensions and several date-specific prices need the chosen day's terms. The ticket, entry and hotel conditions here are published offers; no purchase, passport gate scan or hotel registration was personally tested for this guide.
For travel beyond Qingdao, Shandong's regional guide compares coast and inland choices. The airport and the two railway stations above are departure gateways; buy the real dated onward journey before adding an outing. A same-day return to your Qingdao hotel is sensible for Laoshan, while a move to another city requires a separate travel allowance.
