Lishui is a good break from the bigger cities of Zhejiang if you want to look at a river rather than race around monuments. Its most rewarding short outing is Guyan Huaxiang 古堰画乡: village streets and painting studios on the Dagangtou side, then water channels, old trees and the Tongji Weir around Yantou. The water between the two is part of the visit, but it also makes the return worth planning.
Use one full day and two nights: arrive in central Liandu, spend the next day at Guyan Huaxiang, and depart after a second night. A city evening around Chuzhou Fucheng adds food and a riverside atmosphere. This is a compact Lishui visit; Yunhe rice terraces, Songyang villages and Jinyun Xiandu are separate destinations, not extra stops in the same afternoon.

One city base, one river excursion

Keep the two Guyan Huaxiang banks together on the full day. Central Liandu is your arrival and departure base, with Chuzhou Fucheng for an evening. Do not read the diagram as a walking route between the city and the villages.
If rice terraces are your main reason for visiting Zhejiang, give Yunhe its own transport and overnight plan instead of stretching this itinerary. If you mainly want a compact historic town, consider a separate stay in Songyang. Lishui is an administrative region as well as a city name; the attractive places in it are widely spread.
Choose convenience in town or quiet at the river
Central Liandu near Chuzhou Fucheng: the default for a short first visit, with city meals and a straightforward taxi pickup. It means making the scenic return to town, but avoids moving bags midway.
Dagangtou near Huaxiang: choose this for an early riverside start and more time for photography. Confirm the exact vehicle drop-off, luggage walk, breakfast and the next day’s station transfer before reserving. A room by a lively lane may hear evening businesses.
Lishui station: practical for a very early train, less rewarding as an evening base. These are area recommendations. Enter Lishui, Zhejiang, your dates, two adults and one room in your accommodation service, then confirm the address and passport check-in with the property.
A full day for both banks
Arrival evening · night 1: check in, eat at Chuzhou Fucheng or near the hotel, and confirm the next day’s scenic transfer and boat conditions. Arriving late does not reduce the full day needed for the villages.
Full day · night 2: leave after breakfast for Dagangtou. Walk Huaxiang and have an early lunch, then cross to Yantou if boats are running. Explore the weir and channels, return well before the confirmed final sailing, and take the arranged car back to the same hotel. If the operator recommends the opposite order for that day, reverse the two banks while preserving the return margin.
Departure morning: breakfast, luggage collection and the transfer to Lishui station. Do not place a fixed train immediately after the rural excursion. For a second full day and third night, keep a relaxed city day with the waterfront and cafés; add it for rest, not to claim that every county highlight fits.
Heavy rain, river restrictions or a suspended boat changes the plan: visit one bank with a road return only if open and safe, or keep a city day. Do not replace a cancelled crossing with an informal boat.
Order one fish dish and leave time for lunch
The scenic operator highlights 红烧溪鱼 hongshao xiyu, braised local river fish. Ask the restaurant which fish is available, whether the price is per fish or by weight, and the total before ordering; small fish may contain many bones.
For two adults, begin with one fish or other main dish, a vegetable dish and rice. Choose tofu or vegetables after checking the stock and seasoning if you avoid meat. Eat in Dagangtou before the crossing so the afternoon is not dependent on finding a particular restaurant in Yantou.
At Chuzhou Fucheng, choose freshly cooked snacks in small portions and sit down for dinner if queues make stall-hopping slow. This guide does not promise a particular vendor or nightly market schedule.
Two adults, one room, two nights
For one full day and two nights, use 2R + A + C + T + ¥400–580. R is the actual room quote per night; A is the pair’s arrival and departure station transfers; C is your return vehicle or public-transport cost for Guyan Huaxiang; T is the pair’s chosen tickets and boat package.
The editorial allowance is ¥300–420 for meals from arrival dinner to departure breakfast and ¥100–160 for drinks and contingency. These are planning inputs, not checked menus or fares. Intercity rail, shopping, guides and extra activities are excluded.
Example inputs R = ¥300, A = ¥100, C = ¥240 and T = ¥100 give ¥1,440–1,620 for the pair. C and T are illustrative, not operator quotes: replace them before committing. For an extra city day and third night, add R + ¥250–380 for food, local travel and contingency; with the same room input, the example becomes ¥1,990–2,300.
Choose the river landscape and a city evening
1. Huaxiang at Dagangtou · 画乡 · 大港头
Walk Jiangbin Road slowly, looking between the two-storey shopfronts towards the water. This is a working visitor village with cafés, studios and restored buildings, not an untouched settlement. The appeal lies in the combination of river light and places to pause.
Start here for lunch and an easy introduction, then decide whether the weather and boat operation justify crossing to the ancient-weir side. A studio visit or purchased artwork is optional; opening hours depend on the individual business.

Getting there
Use a taxi or an arranged car to the Dagangtou/画乡 entrance. Save this exact name for your return; 古堰 is a different arrival point.
How to visit
Before buying, ask the staffed ticket desk to confirm today’s crossing, final return and the inclusion of each bank. If boats stop, keep the visit on this bank or use an agreed road transfer; do not expect to walk across the river.
2. Tongji Weir and Yantou · 通济堰 · 堰头村
Here the main attraction is a landscape shaped by moving water. Look for the curved weir, the channel system and old trees along the water, then compare that practical engineering with the painters’ streets on the other side.
Stay on the designated visitor paths: the weir is water infrastructure, not a river-crossing footpath. Give the channels and village enough time instead of treating the boat ride as the entire excursion.

How to visit
Confirm the return landing before boarding. If the last suitable boat is full or cancelled, ask the staffed visitor service for the road exit and call your agreed driver; avoid waiting until dusk to discover there is no return booking.
3. Chuzhou Fucheng and the city waterfront · 处州府城 · 南明门
Use the lanes around Chuzhou Fucheng for a gentle arrival-evening walk and a meal. This is a contemporary food-and-leisure area around the old city, so visit for atmosphere rather than expecting a complete ancient walled town.
In daylight, include the exterior around Nanming Gate before returning to the food streets. Choose a short out-and-back river section rather than a long walk away from your hotel.

If rain makes the waterfront uncomfortable, keep dinner near the hotel. This city route works independently of the scenic boat and is not a substitute for a confirmed crossing.
Save the station and the exact scenic entrance
Book the exact Lishui 丽水 station on 12306, checking Zhejiang and your actual date. Do not confuse it with Lishui 溧水 near Nanjing. A taxi from the marked station rank is the simplest first transfer with bags.
The scenic operator identifies road access from Lishui station and separate bus destinations for Dagangtou and Yantou. Its transport page contains older airport information, so this guide does not repeat its fixed journey times, fares or bus frequency. Use the current station information desk or live route planner for a dated bus journey; choose a return car quote if you cannot establish the final service.
