Where will you keep returning after a mixed Chengdu sightseeing day?
Choose your base: Chunxi Road / Yanshikou suits a mixed first visit. Choose Tianfu Square / People’s Park when your museum and park days dominate. Compare both areas and named hotels below.
The branch and door: match the Chinese name and full address to your arrival and repeated day route.
Your dates and total: read the chosen room’s payable offer, taxes, service charges, deposit and payment timing on the payment screen.
Original passport: ask the branch in writing whether it can receive your nationality’s passport and complete guest registration. A platform’s “Guests Accepted” field is only a screening signal.
Room fit: match bed type and breakfast to the booked room; ask the branch about its lift or step-free route and latest accepted arrival time.
Exit terms: save the cancellation deadline, no-show rule and property contact details.
A fallback: identify another named property in a workable area before a late or uncertain arrival.
The city guide uses these as examples of two different bases. The three dated comparison rows below are other properties, so do not apply their Trip.com scores or guest-country snapshots to these two hotels.
Grand Hyatt Chengdu · 成都群光君悦酒店
Chunxi Road default: a full-service option at 春熙南路8号 for a mixed central stay. Check the street route from 春熙路 station and the exact entrance with luggage. Call 028-66661234 and ask the branch where it can confirm your room and passport arrangements in writing.
Wenshu/Gulou alternative: a limited-service option at 大墙西街72号, reached from 太升南路 on Line 4. It adds a different last walk and may add a Metro change to your repeated days.
For either property, ask the exact branch in writing about your passport, room, total, deposit and latest arrival before paying. The official property pages confirm identity and address; they do not establish that your chosen date, rate or document has been accepted.
DEFAULT BASE
Chunxi Road / Yanshikou
Use this centre when restaurant evenings and several different city areas share your days. Both properties below are in the central commercial grid; trace the exact pedestrian route to the metro you expect to use.
Cost of this choice: Expect busy streets and traffic at the edge of the shopping area. The panda base, Sanxingdui and both airports still require separate journeys from Chunxi Road.
Use this side when Chengdu Museum, People’s Park and the Kuanzhai approach matter more than returning to Chunxi Road. Choose the metro station and exit that fit your luggage route.
Cost of this choice: You give up the immediate Chunxi / Taikoo Li evening base; cross-city outings still require their own departure plan.
Pin the hotel’s full address and your actual station or airport before choosing. Chengdu Tianfu (TFU) and Shuangliu (CTU) are separate airports; a hotel name or generic ‘airport transfer’ leaves the late arrival route unresolved. Find the last usable train or car transfer and trace the final walk with luggage.
Sanxingdui from a Chengdu base — A central base makes the Chunxi Road bus option easier to compare; reserve admission and both rides separately.
Wuhou Shrine and optional Jinli — Use this as one city afternoon, then return to the same hotel instead of moving for a single sight.
WHEN THE PLAN FAILS
Keep a usable room and route
Late arrival or a missed transfer
If arrival slips beyond the hotel’s written arrival cutoff or your final transfer, contact the exact property and booking platform before travel. Ask the property to hold the room or offer a workable change. For an airport overnight, identify TFU or CTU first and match the specific terminal transfer; move to a city base the next day if needed.
Passport registration fails at arrival
Show the written acceptance reply and original passport. Ask the front desk or duty manager for the specific issue, contact the booking platform while at the desk, and request a documented cancellation or transfer. Move to the second named property chosen before arrival; refund or replacement terms depend on the platform’s documented decision.
The base no longer fits the days
If your chosen hotel makes the daily route awkward, compare a cancellable room in the other area before changing. Read the total charge and cancellation deadline; a district label omits the final walk.
SOURCES & FRESHNESS
What these hotel rows establish
The three scored comparison rows use property names, addresses and Trip.com guest-country listings checked on 29 September 2026, with scores and review counts retained from 27 September snapshots. Chinese addresses for all three IHG comparison hotels were checked against IHG on 2 October and can be shown with the Chinese hotel name to a driver. The Grand Hyatt and Gulou examples above use their official property pages checked on 30 September for identity and address; they have no score or guest-country assertion here. Read all live room terms and obtain the branch’s written passport and arrival answer.
Trip.com’s “Guests Accepted” field displayed all countries and regions for the three scored comparison rows when reopened on 29 September 2026; this was not established for the two city-guide examples above. Match your passport and late-arrival needs to the branch’s written reply before payment. Read the live room offer’s inventory, total and deposit; trace the actual door-to-door luggage route and ask the hotel about any required access details. A review score helps compare listings; the chosen room and repeated journeys decide which base works.
